Get cracking: there’s no time like the present

Time to roll up our sleeves. The journey starts with prototype 1.

Firstly, it’s all about wiring together development boards (starter kits from component manufacturers) and writing some basic firmware (the tiny bits of code that run on the miniature computer at the heart of it all).

The result? A glorious mess of electronic spaghetti that, if the stars align, actually does what you want it to.

(Spoiler: this one did. And it worked really well.)
